There is so much to do in the holiday season that it seems pretty difficult to make it special for your kids. You should thus plan number of activities for your children during the holiday season. It will keep them busy. They should certainly make the most out of it.

Cookie baking is the first activity that you should consider for your kids. The recipes are easy and fun to make and they taste great as well. You can also make desserts after you have made some treats. Ask your kids to help you with the baking and decoration. They should also wrap the dessert plates in style. For decoration, you can use bows or ribbons. You can also do it with cellophane or plastic wrap. You should make good number of plates so that there's one for each child to take to his neighbors or friends.

You can make cookies if you cannot go out due to bad weather condition. However to keep the kids engaged, ask them to help you with making greeting cards. To make it more interesting for your children, find some old family photographs. You can find them in the boxes. Ask your kids to help you. They might struggle initially but it will become really interesting and easy later on. You should tell them to find one picture of each family member like Dad, Grandma etc. Now ask them to sort out the pictures and arrange them in order. At the end of it, all the photographs will be organized nicely. You can use these photographs in the Christmas card. The kids will love it too.

Finally you should take your kids for an outing after all the hard work they have done. It's quite difficult to do the Christmas shopping with the kids. It becomes all the more difficult when you are in the toy section. Children just want everything out there and they don't let you shop.  Make your kids understand the spirit of Christmas. There's one thing which you kid will always remember and that is experience of hands-on giving. Look out for the nearest food kitchen or homeless shelter and inquire about their dinner during holidays. You can volunteer dinner for the entire family. You and your family will realize the true spirit of Christmas when you will distribute dinners to the needy at some local food kitchen. You should ask the shelter as to what one needs to do in order to distribute these dinners. They will do whatever they can to help you. Your kids will realize the true meaning of Christmas through such valuable experiences. Feeding the needy and homeless people will be celebrating Christmas in its true spirit! Your kids will remember this experience forever!
